Halfway Point

Just as the weather's about to get cooler, the races for the 2018 Orangetown Cup are heating up!  With all teams now having played at least half their 6-game Cup schedule, the race is still up for grabs on both the girls and boys side.

In the Girls Division it's now officially a two-team race, as wins by Pearl River and Tappan Zee this evening have taken Nyack and Nanuet out of the running. But with both those teams still holding 3 games to play, they will help determine if it's the Pirates or the Dutchmen who eventually hoist the trophy. The first game between the programs this season ended in a draw, so their next contest - Wednesday, Oct. 10, 4:15pm @ Pearl River - will likely be the deciding match.

Over in the Boys Division it's a little more complicated: Tappan Zee is enjoying an undefeated season to date, and has opened up a 6 point lead over the chasing Nanuet, Nyack and Pearl River squads, who each can claim 3 points. So the Dutchmen are clearly ahead and have wins over everyone, but that also means they are vulnerable in this highly competitive division - any slip ups in the second half here will only encourage an already motivated field of competitors. TZ can take a big step towards claiming their second consecutive Cup tomorrow - Friday, Oct. 5, when they travel to Nanuet @ 4:30pm, and Pearl River takes another journey to Nyack at 6:30pm.

Good luck to all the teams!
